With HP's acquisition of Palm, it will be interesting to see if a new phone is released either under the Palm or HP brand that features an updated version of the webOS platform that powers the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus.
With other operating systems, users are forced to close one application in order to open a new one, but WebOS allows users to run many different applications simultaneously.
With the new webOS and a sleek new look, the Palm Pre may better compete against alternatives like the BlackBerry Bold and HTC Touch Diamond.
It gets equipped with a large touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, integrated camera, and a brand new webOS smartphone platform.
Palm had worked very hard on developing the new webOS, abandoning the dated Palm OS that the company had been using up until that time.
Android is a mobile operating system, not unlike the webOS found on the Palm Pre or Windows Mobile found on the Samsung Blackjack.
The Palm Pre is perhaps the most fashionable mobile phone to ever come out of Palm and it comes powered by the all-new webOS.
By contrast,Windows 7 Series resembles the touch-centric GUI (graphic user interface) of Android, WebOS, and iPhone devices.
The smart WebOS also integrates calendars, contacts, and email so that you never lose a contact again.
Many of the Palm line of phones use the WebOS, an operating system that offers many unique features.
