Suspension is a process by which a piercee is lifted off of the ground by temporary piercings.

The piercer uses hooks to pierce through specific parts of the body; these hooks are attached to pulleys or another mechanism and used to lift the piercee off of the ground for a period of time.

This process allows the piercee to wear larger gauge jewelry without having to endure the slow process of stretching.
