Daily doses of diphenylhydantoin (Dilantin) or carbamazapine (Tegretol) can prevent or reduce the severity of pain in the hands and feet associated with this condition.
Care should be used in combining SSRIs with major or minor tranquilizers or with anti-epileptic agents such as phenytoin (Dilantin) or carbamazepine (Tegretol).
Drugs such as phenytoin (Dilantin) and carbamazepine (Tegretol) are prescribed to treat the pain associated with nerve damage.
These drugs include zidovudine (Retrovir), phenytoin (Dilantin), and azathioprine (Imuran).
Large doses may also decrease the effects of phenytoin (Dilantin), a seizure medication.
