AUGUST FERDINAND MOBIUS (1790-1868), German astronomer and mathematician, was born at Schulpforta on the 17th of November 1790.
Leopold received his education first at Donndorf, a school established in an old monastery near his home, and then at the famous school of Schulpforta, whence he passed to the university of Halle and later to that of Berlin.
He was educated at Schulpforta, and studied the classics at the universities of Bonn and Leipzig.
At Schulpforta he had read with delight Lessing's Anti-Goeze, and during his Jena days had studied the relation between philosophy and religion.
KARL RICHARD LEPSIUS (1810-1884), German Egyptologist, was born at Naumburg-am-Saale on the 2 3 rd of December 1810, and in 1823 was sent to the "Schulpforta" school near Naumburg, where he came under the influence of Professor Lange.
