BENJAMIN FRANKLIN TRACY (1830-), American lawyer and soldier, was born in Owego, New York, on the 26th of April 1830.
He was educated at the Owego academy, was admitted to the bar in 1851, was district-attorney of Tioga county in 1853-1859, and was a member of the state Assembly in 1862.
THOMAS COLLIER PLATT (1833-1910), American politician, was born in Owego, Tioga county, New York, on the 15th of July 1833.
He made money in lumbering out West, and returning to Owego became a banker and railway director.
The next seventeen years were passed in active ministry at Brooklyn, whence in 1854, owing to a throat affection, he removed to Owego, N.Y.
